In Response To: List of Free Mullatoes & Negros Westmoreland ()
I have a copy of the list. It was published in the Virginia Genealogist volume 31(1987), pp.40-47. Abraham and Dorcus are listed with children Amaus, Polley, Abraham and Eley Hubbard.
Day, McKey, Ball, Ashton, Locus, Davis, Massey, Cash, Williams, Sorell, Tate, Hammon, Washington, Mozingo, Taylor, Jones, Cannady, Johnson, Turner, Cary, Cooper, Harrison, Henry, Dixson, Gumby, Wells, Newman, smith, Gaskins, Newgent, Woodward, Weldon, Harris, Thomas, Glascock, Walker, Coleman, Wilson,Thornton, and Thompson.
Day, McKey, Locus, Mozingo, and possibly Ashton were free since colonial times. Quite a number of the families were the former slaves of Robert Carter of Nomony Hall who freed some 500 slaves by Westmoreland and Northumberland County deeds about 1791 to 1794.
