Re: Lamberts-Prince Willam Co before 1830

I've been tracing a William Lambert born in Trenton NJ about 1815. His father was a slave who purchased himself. I don't know his parents names or if William had brothers and sisters. William received an early education from Quakers.

The Lambert surname is associated in the Trenton area with Quakers. John Lambert was an Orthodox Quaker member who did not side with the anti-slavery Quakers of Trenton when the two groups split. I believe William's father was likely owned by an Orthodox Quaker who allowed him to self-purchase.

Possibly your Lamberts also have a connection to Quakers. Perhaps look at local Friends Meeting rosters for members named Lambert.
