You might want to read "Family Secrets: Crossing the Colour Line" by Catherine Slaney (Natural Heritage Books, Toronto 2003). Its the story of an adult woman who discovers her Black Canadian & American roots and traces her family tree. It also provides some interesting insight into the Black Canadian experience.
