I have just finished a book entitled, "The Known World" by Edward P. Jones. One of the focuses of the book is a freed black who becomes a slave owner. I remember that several years ago there was a PBS special on slavery and it mentioned such a person. I "Googled" and found a very ify article which mentioned your ancestor and then "Googled" again and found this web site. I am wondering if you have any sites to refer me to on this subject. I am reading the book with a book group, and as a history teacher I am extremely interested in the topic. Thanks!
