This information is taken from the magazine entitled Tidewater VA. Families - A Magazine of History and Genealogy ($25 a year subscription). A transciption of The Essex County VA Register appears in the Nov/Dec 1998 issue Vol. 7 no. 3 and endds in Aug/Sept. 200- vol. 9 no. 2 (serialized in 9 issues). There are 339 entries and covers the period 10 No. 1810 to Feb. 15, 1841. Apparently a xeroxed county of the orginal register is at the Essex County Courthouse. Surnames included:
