Re: MANUMISSION PAPERS
In Response To: Re: MANUMISSION PAPERS ()

Hi Coleen

Sorry it took a while to get back to you. I'm not quite sure yet if there is a relationship to the Watts slaves. As I stated earlier Alexander & Elizabeth Watts Mcharg (slaveowners) willed their son-in-law & daughter Mark Alexander & Elizabeth Q. Mcharg slaves.

I'm researching the Watts line hoping to connect the slaves mentioned in the Watts wills. I'm not sure where the Watts originated from in Va. before Mecklenburg Co. that's why I asked more about your Watts slaveowners.

Mark Alexander was the slaveowner of my ancestors. As I continue my research backwards I see that some of the slaves on his slave list 1865 are also mentioned in the will of the Watts/Mcharg.

I'm trying to find how this slaveowner Mark Alexander begot my ancestors, did he purchase them, were they willed to him, did a wife bring slaves to the marriage.
