Hello~
I am hoping that someone will be able to look up a James Bannister/Banister in Virginia for me. In 1820 he was living in Rockledge County, Virginia (and transcribed in HQ as Barrister). I am not sure, but believe he was still there in 1830 and 1840. What I am hoping to find out is this:
**In 1830 was there are any free Colored males listed as under ten

years of age (as well as if there were any slaves listed)
**In 1840 was there any free Black males 'of 10 and under 24 (as

as if there were any slaves listed)
James was a free mulatto male during this time frame.
