My thanks for the follow-up information on my grandfather Collatinus. I have most of the census information, but must find tax, voter or other documents that will allow me to locate him prior to the 1870 census. He may have been enslaved up to that point, but he did buy property in 1868 from a white family in Dinwiddie.
