I have been searching for some time for my great-grandfather, Collatinus Mason's origins. Other possible spellings of his first name are Carlatnus, Collitinus, Colatnus. If you come across this name in Virginia, especially in Brunswick, Dinwiddie, Sussex, Surry, Prince George or Chesterfield Counties, please send me a posting.

One set of leads I was following suggested that his origins may have been in Hog Island, MD. So far I have come to a dead end in this search. Another suggestion was that he was a part of the John Mason plantation of Surry/Southampton County, VA. I am still trying to find a definite source from this region.
