My sister is married to a descendant of those North Carolina Pettiford's. His branch moved to Tifton, GA while another branch moved to Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Have you connected with Mauri Pettiford? She has information on all the Pettifords, including marriage bonds from North Carolina from the 1840's. She's in contact with Pettiford's all over the country, including Texas.

She has posted on the message boards at Ancestry.com and Genealogy.com. Google her name and you'll probably come up with her info.
