Re: William Goyens
In Response To: Re: William Goyens ()

I interested in this William Goins (I'm not sure if he is connected to my family)

Have noticed the two listings on the 1790 census? One White, the other FPOC.

My "brick wall" is based in part by the information in an 1896 Cherokee application file for a James Mayhew. His uncle, Joel Curtis provided information. Joel's mother Mary Goin born around 1780 was the daughter of Billy and Betsey Goins (also referred to as William Goins) and his father Henry Curtis Jr.,born around 1780--mentioned in Paul H's work.

Joel went on to say that Mary had to brothers (half) named Joel Matthews and Ezekiel Matthews.

Do you have any information as to when the subject of your research (William) died and what was the name of his wife and children if known?

Thanks,
Lyle
