Has anyone done any research on, or encounterd the African-American community of New Guinea in Northeastern Ohio? I seek more information.
It was about a mile or so east of Williamsport, on the north side of the Mahoning River; it had a church and an old burial ground that have long since faded into oblivion; it (or the township=Lexington)
had a black population of as many as 200 people 1810 to about ~1870?; and that population was composed of fugitives and free persons of color, some of whom came with the earliest Quaker settlers from Virginia.
A few surnames associated with the church leadership there were: DAY, BRACY, WHITFIELD, HAMLIN, DAVIS.
