Re: Revolutionary War and Other Questions

Quo "Poe" I just realized that you're researching family lines possibly connected to Isaac Hammond. How goes the research? My interest stems from notes from Paul Heinegg's book, that connects Dicey Hammond(s) to a John Sampson. One of the children is named Henry Sampson. I'm trying to find the parents of Henry Sampson who married Carolina Williams in 1853. I'm not sure that Dicey and John Sampson are Henry's parent's, but I'm hoping someone familiar with these families can help point me in the right direction. I know the Sampsons were in Cumberland County for some years, but can't quite get a hold of them between the 1830's and 1840's. Family lore has me connected to Charles Waddell Chesnut AND Langston Hughes, through their Sampson ancestors, but no one can say exactly how we're related. Chesnut's grandmother Chloe was a Sampson and Hughes' grandmother Mary was a Sampson also. Hollis
