() Thank you Denise for that post. Just a short note; I hit a wall with regard to the Goins (and alternate spellings of North Carolina). I can't prove that my Goins family is connected to the Moore County, NC Goins family but the 1896 Cherokee Application file for my Mayhew ancestors (Henry and his brother James Mayhew) list Henry Curtis and wife Mary Goens as their maternal grandparents from North Carolina (Caswell, Orange and Person counties) and the parents of Mary Goens are William and Betsey Goens of North Carolina, (stated that they were "known" to be Cherokee). Your link may possibly be a clue. Also on the 1790 N.C. census for Moore county, there are two William Moore households, one FPOC and the other white. Thanks again,
