25 January 1797, Court of Oyer and Terminer trial of Sam a Negro man Slave the property of Samuel Pleasants charged with Burgulariously and Feloniously entering on the twenty-fourth day of December the house of William Stewart a free man and robbing him of a red cloth cloak and sundry other articles of wearing apparel of the value of ten dollars and putting Betty Stewart, wife to the said William Stewart, in fear of her life.
Slave Sam was set to the Bar...said he was in no wise guilty.

Same case against Davy, the Negro man slave belonging to the estate of the late Colonel William Lewis, decd.
The Court not being unanimous that the said Davy is not guilty
