Whoa Selma .... I wonder, these surnames and many of the given names are found among those formerly enslaved by John Randolph and freed in 1846. I have a couple of listings of the John Randolph slaves beginning in 1806 up to the date of the freedom in 1846.

The freedom register (1846) for the John Randolph slaves (380+) shows a first name, age at manunission, complexion and some familial relationships. In the 1850 Census for Miami & Shelby County, Ohio you see these family groups and some of them have the surnames of White, Carter, Giles and Johnson/Johnston.

It would be very interesting if family connections between the slaves held by the various Randolph families over a period of, say, 50 years could be made.
