Re: finding keziah clifton
In Response To: Re: finding keziah clifton ()

Success Finding Keziah! I had a considerable measure of success in finding this family who lived in the house of The Clay family in 1860.
It seems as if keziah was'nt the one sick and dying, but the mother of keziah and the grandmother of the children being bound out to two clay brothers, who were just returning from Tennessee, with the children as they were in his recently dead fathers will. Some of the entitled children were another sisters children Mariah clifton, who Keziah's possible sister? And incredibly to me listed as keeping house! ( all the children are listed as black) and this was Alabama of 1860! The grandmother of the bound out children is listed as Edy Jones,Black and 100 years old. She died during the petition for the clifton children. I recently spoke with some of the descendants, as I have long held with many other people that a large percentage of Cliftons are related; and this experience has borne this out. There are several Clifton settlements in several states, with numerous people trying to put together the pieces of why? One couple with the Clifton chronicles website even extends a family reunion to all Cliftons in the world. I've spoken to the white ones, and the ones of color as well as the Black. They all seem to think that is a pretty good idea making me think that a world family may not be that far away! Love and success to everyone! God Bless this Website and thanks for your help.
