Oh, I also digged up some info on my ancestor Baptiste Guillory. It might give clues to the Guillory line.
It turns out the first guillory to come to Louisiana was Gregoire Guillory, a French-Canadian who lived in Alabama. He came to Opelousas sometime between 1770-1780 with his legitimate white children from his dead first wife and the mixed children he had by his African slave, Margerite. One of the children was Baptiste Guillory.Anyway, my ancestors, Margerite and Gregoire Guillory are part of a famous court case in 18th century Louisiana. Just type in a search for Gregoire Guillory. Its very interesting. It tells how Margerite fought for her freedom and her mulatto's childrens freedom for Gregoire Guillory.
