HeritageQuest shows three CORAMs: Richard, age 35, Sarah, age 40, and Sebastible, age 13 in the 1870 Census.

Richard lives in Hamilton ROGERS' household along with Julia CORAM, age 28, Emma, age 7, John, age 5, Susan, age 3, and Alice, 9 months. Richard is a farm laborer and Julia is a housekeeper. All of this family group is identified as mulatto.

ROGERS is a farmer with assets in excess of $60,000. There are five other African American farm laborers in the household.

Sarah CORAM, age 40, along with Martha, age 6 and Kate, age 1, lives in the household of a white farmer whose name I cannot distinguish. His assets exceed $40,000. Sarah is a housekeeper.

Sebastible, a 13-year-old male is listed as nurse in the household of Charles Cornell.

As you must know, the Census years listed here are post emancipation.
