Thanks for your words Denise. All of my family are from the South and there are slave owners on both of my parents sides. When I began my family research, I didn't expect this, I guess I hadn't considered it but I believe that I have a ballanced perspective about it and don't dwell on it but as you say, enjoy the knowledge. Robert Ellison's Brother, John (my ancestor) also had a son that he and his wife Ann Catherine Thomson named William. This william Ellison was the father of Anna Rosemond Ellison who became the wife if Samuel Hugh Wilds of Darlington who became Captain of Co. B 21st Regiment, S.C. Volunteers. While he was away at war Anna ran their large plantation operations including over 100 slaves. Their history is truely interesting but they were Confederate salve holders to their core. I am glad that John Ellison's son William became a lawyer and as far as I can tell he didn't own slaves. His son James also became a lawyer. Ok, I'll stop before I post too much and bore you.
