Re: Eady/Edy/Eddie/Edie of North Carolina
In Response To: Re: Eady/Edy/Eddie/Edie of North Carolina
() Thanks for your response regarding James M. Eady in Cumberland County NC. There may be a connection to Daniel Eady in South Carolina, but I am not sure how to find out. I do know that in 1850 there was a Nancy Eady/Edy in Cumberland County, NC and also a Lucy Eady/Edy. Both were listed as Mulatto, Free Persons of Color. They may have been relatives of James, but again,I don't know where to look from here to find a connection. James, at that time, was married and living with his wife and children in Cumberland County NC. In 1860 there was a Mary Eady, age 10 living in another family's home. I was able to find Lucy Eady/Edy living in Bladen County, NC, and in later censuses there were other Eady's in Bladen County, some Black and some Mulatto. A couple of them were neighbors of or living in the home with the Santee family, (another Mulatto family in Bladen County). Today, the Santee's identify themselves as mostly Lumbee Indians in this area, and live mostly in Lumberton, NC. They may have been related to my James Eady, but I am not sure. Anyway...I am rambling here, if you can point me in what direction to find a connection, I would appreciate it. Blessings!
