Looking for info Cape Charles VA area, plantations/owners of slaves. My grandparents were slave in the area and would like to trace back if I can. Family lore has John Wesley being masters son and Lucy Ellen being given to him on the marrage of his halfbrother (masters son)? He escaped and then returned to get his wife and mother. They had 11 children while living in New York starting in 1873. The children were: John Walter, Charles Wesley, James Henry (my grandfatner), Joshua Watkins, Lucy Ellen, Francis Leonard, Apollo Steptoe, Sarah Melinda, Albert Benjamin, Richard Alexander and Vincent. I also hope that there are more Williams cousins out there that I can hear from so we can weave this family together.
