Re: FPOC in CT circa 1810
In Response To: Re: FPOC in CT circa 1810 ()

Sandra,They had 4 children Robert Legrand,Mary (called Mamie), Caroline and Lucy (my Father's mother). All of the children had normal hearing. Adam lost his hearing as a result of cannon fire and Elizabeth had a childhood illness. They wer both able to read and wirte and used sign language. My parents lived with Aunty Caroline and her husband so I knew her very well. My grandmother died before I was born so I never knew her. She did give my father her last name as his middle name so I know the spelling is right. Adam was a boat maker their son Robert was a shoemakers apprentice at 16. I will try to find out the school for the deaf in CT, they may have a record. Family lore says they met at a school for the deaf? Thanks for the note I am really up for the hunt. Hope the ancestor stay with us. Dot
