Attn: Paul Heinig and Robert Goins

While updating my tree (Goins/McCuen & Adams/Stevens), I recently added information on Thomas Gibson (1843-1920). According to his statement in his civil war pension records, his father was a Goins and his mother a Gibson, however the record did not indicate their first names. It further states that their fathers were brothers...Nimrod's father was Wilson Goins.

Thomas married Tabitha Barber in Mar 1867 in Athens, Athens Co., OH, and later married Lucy (Guy) Hardy Jackson Jackson Goins in 1916 in McConnelsville, Morgan Co., OH. Lucy had married 5 times and interestingly, her last marriage was to Nimrod Goins in 1903.

I’m not sure, YET, how Thomas and Nimrod fit into the puzzle. My gg-grandfather was Jessee Goins, b. ca 1824 in VA (m. Evaline/Evalina ... no last name). My g-grandfather is Hiram Goins b. ca Feb. 1861 (m. Rebecca Minerd, b. Nov. 4, 1859, d. Oct. 13, 1919, buried in Toledo). My grandfather is Jesse Floyd Goins, b. Feb. 8, 1892, d. Dec. 12, 1973 (m. Reatha A. McCuen, b. Jan. 16, 1899, d. Aug. 6, 1960).

Robert, I believe you met my parents, Donald & Elizabeth (Adams) Goins about a year ago in Ohio.

Paul, I have your website bookmarked and am continuing to research for additional information.
