Someone contacted me to say they found a photo taken of Thomas Woodford, a very elderly African American man, in Richmond, Virginia, in 1921. The writing on the reverse side of the photo says, "Thos. Woodford born 1811 age 110 years from Richmond Va."
The person who owns the photo would like to give it to a family member.
(I noticed Nancy, Fanny, William, and David Woodford counted in the list of "Free Negroes" for Middlesex County in 1813. They may have been emancipated not long before that since I don't see them in earlier tax lists).
