Greetings Everyone! I am seeking help on information on an ancestor who possibly went through many desperate trials as a free woman of color and possibly name changes consequently. This person is free woman of color and widow Keziah Clifton as of 1861. She was born in Alabama in 1835, and her mother was born in north carolina. She has several children, one of which was burrell clifton. Also she was very sickly during this time and possibly did not live much longer, but I think she probably left the area at this time, because I don't see her in this part of the state after this time period. This woman was probably of french indian descent, as this is pronounced on both sides of my family. please help.
