I found one example of a slave who freed another slave a year prior to receiving his own freedom. In 1801 Peyton Skipwith freed a man named Pliney in Norfolk and in 1802 was freed by Francis Drake in Norfolk. At the time Peyton freed his slave, he was living in Mecklenbery County, VA. I wonder how me managed to arrange this?
