Dear Mr. Laird,
The "Withen Waller" mentioned in this manumission was actually Withers Waller (1785-1827) who owned and operated Clifton Fishery on the Potomac River in Stafford County, Virginia. Withers was also involved in sandstone quarrying there along with the Porter family. Thus, I'm intrigued by Sinah B. Porter of Alexandria who was freeing Sinah Hutchinson who, it seems, had previously belonged to Withers. Lemuel Chadwell also had business ties to Withers, not all of which I yet understand. Thank you for posting this fascinating abstract.
