Robert: Nothing like going back over findings that have grown cold to reveal new findings.

In my excitement, I didn't read the very end of the abstract. It says, "free people of color; Samuel Carter, farther, gives written consent." I totally missed this the first time. It is important because Samuel Carter is my 5th great grandfather. Abraham and Eleanor named one of their 4 sons (they had 9 children) after her father. I did a cursory search for Samuel Carter on FamilySearch.org and used Mr. Heinegg's work. I found a Samuel Carter b. circa 1775 in Cumberland County, Virginia. It is fair distance from Loudoun County. Where should I look next?

Did you see 101 year old Samuel Carter sent in a private email? All best wishes in re discovering kin.
