Paul - Arthur Bannister was my ggggrandfather. You indicate in your note that he was a FPOC. I theorize based on your other research that Arthur was the son of FPOC Oliver Bannister of Orange County and a slave woman. Do you have any other information on him as FPOC (other than the previously deceased Arthur Bannister who I presume to have been the brother of his father, Oliver).

Your research on the Gibson origins in Charles City County is intriguing because Arthur's son-in-law Oseola Adkins was descended from Adkins / Reed ancestors and was born in Sussex. I wonder if somehow he ended up being brought along with kinfolk from the Sussex / Charles City area. See link for photo of Oseola.
