Re: Emancipation in Mecklenburg VA

Deborah,

Congratulations on your findings at LVA.

AND

Oh, Oh...... In my family lines I have a William F. Adams of Champaign & Shelby counties in Ohio that I've lost track of from April 1879.

From the marriage records for Hardin County, Ohio I find a "Colored Couple", William F. Adams & Emma Burnett, being married in Hardin County, Ohio on 22 Oct 1879.

Name: Wm.F. Adams
Event Type: Marriage
Event Date: 22 Oct 1879
Event Place: Hardin, Ohio, United States
Spouse's Name: Emma Burnett
Image for this record is seen on FamilySearch.com

My William F. Adams was born August 1853 in Urbana, Ohio. He was 'divorced' from Lavinia (Allen) Adams in May 1879 in Shelby County,Ohio. Hardin, Shelby & Champaign are nearby counties in Ohio that had sizable FPOC communities during the early to mid 1800's.

Seems possible that we may have common collateral relatives thru these Adams & Burnett families.

Best Wishes,
Art Thomas
