Re: HILL & RICHARDSON
In Response To: Re: HILL & RICHARDSON ()

I have gone back to the year of 1830 with Rachel Hill in Surry county NC. I went to the state archives and there were several Hill children by the name of Hill, all mulatto indentured out. She then appears in Wythe county Va in 1840 in the home of Robert Felton as well as a separate dwelling with my ancestor General Hill. He later appears in Mount Airy with Rachel living next door in 1870 and 1880. Merilla Hill and a few other Hills are the only ONLY FPOC listed in the 1810 Census for Surry County NC. The other are Native American surnames locally. Thank you in advance and for responding to my prior post. There were Free People of Color Hills all along the border of Surry with Va. My family is told to me to be related to the "Injuns" by my oldest living relative Gracie Hill Fulton, now 100 years old and living in Mount Airy, but she has limited faculties
