Dolby in NC and Ohio

I am looking for information on the birth family of Arena/Irene/Rena Dolby, born in North Carolina in about 1822 and married in Pike County, Ohio in 1840 to William Napper(whom I believe was also known as Richard Napper). They are my second great grandparents. I would like to know whether this Dolby family had been long-time FPOC in North Carolina (perhaps descended from the Dolbys in freeafricanamericans), or had been enslaved and moved to Ohio following emancipation. If the latter, how did they become emancipated (and if known, who was their slaveholder)? Also, where in North Carolina did they come from? I have seen Irene Dolby on Art Thomas' website, listed with parents and siblings, and I am very interested to know the source of those parents' names, as I have been unable to find that information anywhere else. (I posted a similar but less specific query in two different places on the website over the past couple of months, but I don't think it's been viewed yet.)
