Re: the Gibson Indians
In Response To: Re: the Gibson Indians ()

Hello Everyone,
My grandfather's mother was an Evans. I found her in Paul's book. Her mother was Adeline Evans. My Aunt thought that she was a "free issue" yet I find her mother, siblings and her in 1860 living with the Poe family, in Chatham County, NC. They described her a dark woman, very pretty with long black hair. She was dark but didn't like black people. Her mother was free so was a FPOC. Could her family have come from Virginia? She's listed as a "mulatto". Her death certificate states that her father is Nathan Lambeth. Her mother lives next to the Lambeth family who are white. Soon, her son, my grandfather, marries my grandmother, a Hill, FPOC. She was the daughter of Augustus Hill---another person from Paul's book.
