It might be a good idea to be specific on exactly what years encompass that time frame known as the the "colonial period". Many folks don't have a good idea of what that means, and will include any time frame up to and including the Civil War.

I hope that the author doesn't mean to say that the John ARCHER who he finds first identified in 1677 and whose "blood trickled down" is the same John Archer that "fought in the Revolutionary War".
