I'm wondering if anyone out there has contacts in Gates County, NC? I'm doing research into the disintegration of the Chowan Indian settlement there, and would like to contact some of the descendants there today who have merged with the Black community. I am particularly interested in the descendants of Jethro and Isaac Eure, who were sons of James Robins. Both of them lived until ca. 1920 and both applied to the Guion Miller Commission. Both were also named on Mooney's 1889 survey as having significant Indian blood. I'm interested in what, if anything, the descendants remember about the older members of the family and their traditions.
