Hello Art--I thought you might be interested in the Piles since you mentioned them in one of your past posts. Nelson the son is not included in the certificate they obtained as the family left Virginia but in Turpin's compilation appears separately which makes me wonder if he was under indentures and did not leave to join the rest of the family later. Some day I am going to look in the Amelia Order book to see if he had been bound out, possibly not long before Nelson the father was freed and denied permission to stay. I hope the Amelia register will prove useful to folks. I also hope I can find what happened to those freed under Ann Hughes will--Mick
