There were Moroccans, Egyptians, Syrians, Indians, etc here in the Americas as early as the 16th century. One egyptian was Nasereddine an Egyptian in the Catskills in the 16th Century. Another, Salim the Algerian.

Actually, Moors is not synomynous with Moroccco. Berbers have been called Moors since ancient time and they originate from Morocco and as far East as Siwa Oasis in Egypt and also in Mali, Mauritania, Ghana, Western Sahara, Angola, etc.

You have Moroccan Berbers and Moroccan Arabs. The M. Arabs are not Moors. You also have the Washitaw Moors that originate here in the Americas. They are recognized as indigeonous to the Americas by the UN. It was the M. Berbers that went into Spain in the 8th century and was expelled in 1492. Many mistakenly say they were the M. Arabs. The Arabs invaded Morocco in the 8th century and the M. Berbers went into Iberia (Spain and Portugal) with the Arab army the same century.

Also, remember that Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, and Lybia are in Africa so they were indeed African slaves.

The Spanish colonized the Americas before the British came here. Google the Timucua and the Spanish missions. The Spanish already had colonies in the US when the British arrived. Read about the Melungeons and you will find information about the Egyptians, Moroccans, etc being here with the Spanish and the extent of their settlements.

There are numerous slave narratives that discuss this topic. Read Hernando De Soto's travel through South Carolina in 1540.

My ancestry traces back to ~1790 in SC and I am mixed with M. Berber, Egyptian, Lucayan/Timucua (Arawak/Taino) and Carib Native American, Sudanese, and Angolan. Again, the family documentation traces back to ~1790 in South Carolina. My family shows up in numerous books regarding South Carolina. My DNA test confirmed this and the famly stories.

Most of the history of hte slave trade as taught in the US is garbage. More follow-up on that later....
