Squire is most likely my wife's g-g-great grandfather. We are not certain because we have not found a definite link between Squire and my wife's g-great grandfather Felson Walden. Felson apppears to be Squire's eldest son. Squire's youngest child Molly Markham said she was the youngest of fifteen children, but only twelve are listed in Squire and Tempy's household in the census.
Squire's father was William(3) Walden who was listed in Squire's household in the census, and it was confirmed by Molly Markham that her grandfather was Billy Walden. William(3) was taxable in Surry County, Va., in 1802 and was given 94 acres of land in Northampton County by his uncle Micajah Walden of Surry County. Micajah called him "Neffu William Walden son of WilliamWalden," so we know William(3) was the son of William(2) Walden of Surry County, Va. This William married Priscilla Banks, daughter of John Banks who was an ancestor of Wanda Sykes. They descend from a white woman named Elizabeth Banks who had a child by a slave in York County in 1683.
The William(2) Walden who married Priscilla Banks was the son William named in the will of yet another William Walden (William(1) Walden) who left a Surry County will in 1775.
I have not yet found out who this William(1) Walden and the other early Waldens of Surry County descended from. The court orders from around the time of their births is missing, but they may be related to the Chavises since some Waldens called themselves Chavis-Walden.
