DELAWARE COUNTY REPUBLICAN
Court
Com. vs. George Potts. - The defendant in this case - a colored
man, who kept what is known as the 'Girard House,'in this
Borough - was indicted for selling liquor on Sunday, contrary
to the statute. George, it seems, sold a quart of whiskey to a
colored woman, who represented that it was wanted to bathe her
child. The parties were then on good terms, but subsequently
had a quarrel, which led to the indictment. The Court
sentenced the defendant to pay a fine of fifty dollars, and
undergo imprisonment in the jail of the county for thirty
days.
