Re: Longtown,Ohio
In Response To: Re: Longtown,Ohio ()

I remember "exploring" the old Methodist Church on Stingley back in the 70's as it decayed and was overtaken by vegetation.

Of course by then it was moved from directly across from the WME to down the road on the same side. That kind of "exploring" is supposedly why Marvie Maze "Maze" CLEMENS had it torn down.

For the record that particular denomination's building started out on the Indiana side of the Settlement. Then was moved to directly across from the WME building. Then to the same side of the road as the WME building but further down the road across from where Rufus Wilson Calvin GOENS had his grocery store.

Regarding Mabel Lamb: She was 1st cousin to my grandfather, James Woodrow (Woody) Swaney or so we were told.

Exactly.

1st cousin to James Woodrow (Woody)...
1st cousin once removed to Larry Allen...
1st cousin twice removed to Lori Anne...

I believe Mabel's mother, Anna/Annie and my grandfather's mother, Rilla Viola Smith, were sisters. They lived on Smokey Road, now Smith Road in Longtown.

Correctamundo. Mabel's mother's actual name is Gladis(sic) Anna SMITH LAMB.

I'd be interested to know of the 14 connections you have!

OK I'll plan to send you relationship diagrams privately.

Doug
