Thanks Art, or they did not require them as you said to register since they were already living there. When did your Reno's arrive? Imes and Davis's arrived late 1858 to 1859. Davis's first settled in Wayne Co. Canaan Twp, just below Westfield in Medina, they purchased 25 acres, in Medina. One of Imes married a Davis, so that is why I am linking them as well. Davis and Imes came out of Franklin County PA. It just amazes me how "free colored" moved about in specific areas during critical times. Both David Imes and Joseph B. Davis, registered for the CW, David served, so far nothing links that Joseph did. I checked NARA, all USCT websites, etc, and Joseph was double counted in the 1860 census. Gotta love the research.
