First let me correct a couple things I posted upstream. I said, "A Just and True Account" in the The Magazine of Albemarle County History. the article says Henderson is "Sherrod's son" and that the date of the page in the Order Book was 8 June 1828.

Upon closer examination the date says 7 June, 1828 instead of 28 June, 1828

Secondly"A Just and True Account" refers to Sherod/Sherrod Goings in John Hammond Moore's, Albemarle, Jefferson's County 1727-1976. I just happen to have a copy and on page 168 it says that, " Henderson Goings, a free black, farmed 150 acres ( perhaps mountain land inherited from his Revolutionary War ancestor).

Once I visited the northern part of Albemarle County and saw the land where these acres would have been on or next to Buck Mountain.
