I believe the Joel Stewart of Williamson County, Illinois, that you are referring to, is the same Joel Stewart who left Mecklenburg, VA for Tennessee with my ggggrandfather, Robert Cole, and ultimately left Tennessee for Indiana before 1837. By 1860, Joel Stewart is living in Illinois. In Virginia, the Cole family was headed by a matriarch, Lucy Chavis. I am also familiar with the Tayborn families because they intermarried with my ancestors before and during their settlement in Saline County, Illinois.
