Re: John Geaween/Grawere??
In Response To: Re: John Geaween/Grawere?? ()

Tried the site but could not get to the place to see the document for some reason..Was that Michael Gowen, or just Michael in that document?

It doesn't much matter any more what John's last name was, since it can't be proved WHAT that name was.. But since everyone agrees it begins with the letter G, could you put that image under the G names too? I'm sure I'm not the only person who has missed John being under the Gowen name..If you had not told me, I'd never have known the image of the handwritten note was under the Sweat name. People who believe they descend from this man need to be able to see the document and decide for themselves what the name is.

Fact is, to ME the name really looks like Geuwan or Geuwun, because I don't see a double e looped like that anywhere else in the writer's writing..Not even in the word *overseer*, which we KNOW has a double e.
Same with the word *keep*.

Also, if you look at the U in the word *court*, it looks much the same as the 3rd letter in the name..But it still could be an *a*.

We do have good examples of ea together in the word *appeareth*..Also in *increase*..

Sadly, the writer was not consistent in his letter making in these notes..

This is a puzzle that has value of its own as a puzzle, regardless of what the name may some day prove to be...

I hope more people will look at the image..
