I agree with Arlene. There may have been occasions where people have said they had oral histories in their family, but which they have found no basis in fact. Oral histories usually have some grain of truth in them, no one has ever said to dismiss them entirely. From what I've seen, most of us have encouraged researchers to use the info in an oral history, and try to find records to prove whether or not it is true. A lot of times oral histories have been passed down, but some of the facts may have been lost or changed over the years, and it is up to the researcher to verify whatever they do find. Deloris
