I've recently come across several folks with the surname COLLINS who are closely connected to my CHAPMAN/HARGROVE ancestors of Nutbush, Granville Co. John, Thomas & William; Elizabeth, Nancy, & Polley. (In no particular order) These names occur around 1800, give or take.

I am wondering if these COLLINS' are amongst those of the Flat River "melungeon" (I know that word is controversial.) community or the Person County Indians.

Any information or suggestions on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.
