Regarding James Clemens parentage:

Word of mouth says he was born to a Pennsylvania Dutch (German) father and a Negro/Indian mother in what is now Virginia in the late 1780's.
Adam Sellers (Zellers) took favor to James who worked for the Sellers family in Rockingham, Va and was later transported to Darke County, Ohio when Adam freed his slaves.
