I am doing historical research on Stephen Dean or Deane (d. 1779), an Irish sea captain in the African slave trade who settled in Savannah, Georgia, with his African wife and partner Fenda Lawrence or Laurence. Their children likely included Mary "Polly" Keast or Kest (b. ca.1766); Frances "Fanny" Dean; Joseph Dean of Savannah (d. 1802); and David Lawrence of South Carolina. I believe that these people lived as free persons in the Savannah and Charleston area. Any help is appreciated. Robert S. Davis, PO Box 687, Hanceville, Alabama 35077-0687.
