It is interesting because the families in Sampson County made the argument that the Lumbees of Robeson County were given their own schools and recognized as Indians, but their immediate relatives in Sampson County were not considered Indians.
Actually, the families who were recognized as Indians in Robeson County had relatives in many counties in Virginia, South Carolina, and Tennessee as well as in many North Carolina counties.
